The red brick walls, the smell of old wood and the echoes in the passageways, all remind us of the two centuries that look down upon us from the dome of the College of Engineering, Guindy.
On May 17, 1794, the Survey School of India was established amidst the lush green spaces adjoining the Raj Bhavan. Today it stands transformed from a simple school of survey during the British times, to one of the most respected institutions for technical studies in India.

Be it building bridges across rivers or building bridges for Large scale computer networks, CEGians have always exhibited a panache for work that is critical to engineers today. Over 50 courses in myriad departments with enrolment from far flung corners of the country ensure diversity in student population. Research and development projects around the world are spearheaded by students from this esteemed institution. CEGians are preferred employees for corporations in India and abroad.
